Fund Raising

Below is a list of Fund Raising activities we are currently involved with at Bishop Burke Council #5284.

Father Peter Fund was setup to pay for vehicle maintenance and operating cost of a truck we donated to him in Ghana back in 2005. Father Peter is in despirate need the funds for of repairs to that vehicle.

Fr. Peter Claver Sutinga served as a fill-in priest at Nativity of Our Lord Parish for several months in 2005. He had visited our Diocese while in training to open a Catholic Radio Station in Ghana. He had met our priests in Rome also.

While here Fr. Peter approached our Grand Knight and was invited to speak to us at a Council meeting concerning the tremendous need for a vehicle in his diocese of Domongo comprising of 43, 000 square miles. Subsequently we did donate a vehicle.
The story was told in the Aug. 2007 issue of the K of C Columbia magazine.

In july of 2007 Fr. Peter contacted us and begged for help in vehicle operating and upkeep expenses. He supplied us with a detailed estimate of the annual expenses of $3,500. He supplied pictures of the vehicle in service during a Typhoid and Cholera outbreak following flooding. The story and pictures first appeared in the Oct. 2007 COMPASS.

An email was received from Fr. Peter on June 19, 2008 giving us an updated on the progress he is making in the Damongo Diocese, Ghana. Take a moment and read it.

Nativity Memorial Prayer Walk

Located in front of the Monsignor Beasley Center and surrounding the Monument to the Unborn, the pathway is comprised of pavers that can be engraved with special messages to celebrate or remember important people and events in a lasting and meaningful way.
